Lauren Rotunno
Hello yogis! I am Lauren Rotunno, certified 200hr yoga teacher. I began practicing yoga when I moved to San Diego from the midwest Chicago land area. Through finding my daily practice, I started linking my breath, mind, body and experiences together which formed a heightened sense of importance with love on all levels... individual self and beings surrounding it. My yoga teaching has enabled me to discover my passion for bringing the traditions of yoga to my classes while also bringing awareness to the anatomy. I am here to help guide students, to look within, listen deeply and discover awareness. Cultivating a community free from judgement!
Katharine Lucas
For Katharine, yoga unifies the body, mind, and spirit in a conscious meditative practice that ebbs and flows like ocean waves. Yoga is infinite knowledge of our bodies, the collective and calls us to go deep within ourselves. Katharine practices yoga to flex, strengthen, and open her mind and body, to help stay in the moment and loves to help others do the same.

Katharine, also known as Kate, is a graduate of the Riffs 200-hour YTT program led by Karina Gerschler and Jenn Richardson.

Kristen Hamel
Kristen appreciates yoga for its ability to meet us where we are at physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She first started practicing yoga over 10 years ago as a physical practice but soon learned how yoga can transform all other aspects of her life. Kristen now uses her yoga practice as a mirror for the areas within herself that need attention or deepening. She loves moving through the many varieties that yoga offers to use each as a different teacher; mainly vinyasa, restorative, yin, and hatha. As a teacher Kristen likes to guide her students to discover their own areas of growth, leaving them inspired and inquisitive as they leave the studio.

Kristen is 300-hour certified under the teachings of Jenn Richardson and Karina Gerschler. She has also been exploring the benefits of essential oils over the past five years and incorporates blends into most of her classes for deeper relaxation.

Kat Ellis

Deeply humbled by the power of nature, music, and simple living, Kat draws inspiration from the rich lineages of yoga, the mysterious jungles of Peru, and from her vibrant community of fellow humans. She considers herself an eternal student of these teachers, continuously seeking truth and harmony through the study and practice of yoga, as well as her relationship with artistic expression and the natural world — our waters, our mountains, our winds, our forests, our people, our self, our Spirit.

Born and raised on the East Coast, Kat pursued her studies in psychology and art. Upon graduating, she embarked on a transformative journey across Southeast Asia, immersing herself in the study of yoga in the heart of Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. Finally landing on the West Coast, finding her sanctuary in the sweet community of Ocean Beach, Kat is devoted to sharing the awakening powers of sound and yoga with others.

Kat has been teaching at Riffs since 2020, and continues to study the ancient roots of the yogic tradition in effort to offer renderings relatable and practical for the present-day western human. She encourages challenging poses and sequencing in her classes with an emphasis on alignment, breath, and seeing through the eyes of the heart.

Trained in sound healing, pranayama, mantra, meditation, yin, vinyasa, and Anusara, Kat offers a colorful spread of flavors to her classes. As she continues to deepen her own studies, she finds joy teaching the asanas, believing that they offer powerful lessons in perseverance, surrender, and grace. For Kat, yoga includes, but expands further than *only* the physical postures — it is a doorway — a path to unity, both within ourselves and with the world around us. It's a pause from the noise of navigating the modern world, as we become still, focused. and sensitive enough to learn the subtle language of nature. She invites others to remember this sense of oneness, guiding them in a ceremony of the heart.

Alana Naber
Aloha friends, my name is Alana! Yoga to me means creating harmony within oneself; as well as within the world around us. Yoga has kept me committed to myself, on my journey, and committed to constantly bettering myself and the world around us. Whether I am in a fully booked class, teaching or practicing alone– I always feel supported on my mat and in my body.

I teach Yoga to inspire and support others. Nothing tickles me pink me more than cheering others along on their journey and creating a sense of community when and wherever possible. Teaching has blessed me with the ability to create a safe space where others are able to practice gratitude, love themselves as they are in that moment, and be the best energy that they can be! Hope to see you on the mat soon.
Jennifer Innocenti

But it wasn’t until 2016 after losing her husband to suicide, that she truly understood the amazing healing powers of breath work, yoga, and sound healing. This led Jen to dive deeper into her own healing journey and yoga practice.

Jen is registered with yoga alliance and holds certificates in 200 hour Vinyasa, kids and teen yoga, sound practitioner, Yin yoga and level 2 Reiki. Jen loves to incorporate sound healing into every one of her classes. She knows firsthand the true healing powers and wants to share it with others in hopes to help with their journeys.

When not practicing, Jen enjoys spending her days at the beach with her three sons and doing healthy healing activities together as a family!

Katerina Rini
As a Yoga Instructor, Sound Healer, Registered Hospice Nurse, and Reiki Practitioner Katerina is passionate about yoga’s ability to heal the body and expand consciousness. She loves and values the power of asana paired with fine alignment, while being devoted to the more subtle elements of yoga philosophy and spirituality, which she weaves in gracefully. She has been practicing yoga for over a decade. Yoga has been a means for her to awaken and discipline her body and mind, while deepening spiritual attunement. Originally from New York, she moved to California after taking some time off to travel around the world and devote time and energy to her yoga practice and knowledge. She lived, studied and taught yoga in Ometepe, Nicaragua and Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, then furthered her studies in Rishikesh, India, where she received her first 200hr yoga certification in 2020. Just recently she took a deep dive into Anusara Yoga under the instruction of Robin Christ, receiving her 200hr Anusara-Inspired status. Her style combines the influences of Anusara, Hatha, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Yin yogas with Pranayama woven through.

Music is another passion of Katerina’s. As a child her greatest love was singing. Naturally talented, she refined this gift with vocal coaching, and sang publicly in concerts, choirs and musicals. She loves blending the vibrations of ethereal vocals and Sanskrit mantras with instruments to create a sensory, healing yoga experience.
