Vinyasa

This class is taught by:

Fair Smith

Hi! I'm Fair.

I am a 500-hr RYT who was born and raised on the East Coast, but migrated out West a few years ago to enjoy all the sunshine and opportunities San Diego has to offer. I step onto my mat to improve my mind-body-spirit connection and gain control of my breath to bring myself back to the present moment. Yoga gives me feelings of bliss, serenity, and deep connection and my goal as a teacher is to share those feelings with my students in a safe, respectful way. When taking one of my classes, students can expect to pair intention, breath and movement seamlessly and feel balanced in both their body and mind.

Finding and maintaining the breath while building self-trust, acceptance, and strength will be the main focuses of my classes. My classes will also emphasize that to participate in yoga, one doesn’t have to be flexible or experienced, all one has to be is open-minded and ready to deeply explore their mind, body, and soul.

Kaitlyn Snyder

Kaitlyn Snyder is a yoga instructor who seeks to create a mindful space for students to explore their practice and connect with themselves. Her personal interests include slacklining, baking, spending time with the people she loves, and anything outdoors! Originally from Santa Cruz, CA, she moved to San Diego to attend SDSU in 2019 and has been practicing as a student at Riffs since 2022.

She received her 200hr certification at Riffs under the incredibly talented Robin Christ, who has spent her life deeply immersed in the yogic teachings. With a background in Anusara Yoga and philosophy, advanced Asana, and meditation, Kaitlyn teaches playful and intentional classes to allow students to further their personal practice and continue the practice of yoga off of their mats.

Asia Casebolt

Asia is originally from Seattle, WA.  She has been teaching since 2013, but really found her voice teaching yoga while living in Spain and traveling through India. Her roots are in Rasa yoga, inspired by Anusara and in meditative and pranayama practices learned in India. She loves a playful class where we push, explore and create boundaries in our bodies.

Henry Valecillos

Henry entered the Yoga and Bodywork World in Caracas, Venezuela in 2001 after finishing his degree in business. He decided to dive deeper in the studies of yoga, massage, healing, bodywork, and coaching in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he lived for 5 years.  In 2007 he took his first yoga teacher training at the Open Space Yoga. This experience changed his life in such a way that he gave up everything he had in Hawaii to pursue adventure in the country where Yoga is originated, India. He lived in India for six months, where he visited many Ashrams and learned about its culture, especially Yoga and Meditation. In 2010 Henry attended the Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training in Madurai, India. Craving more knowledge he pursued a Certification in Ayurveda and Aryu Yoga Massage and studied in Rasovai School in Morjin, Goa. He traveled all around India taking Yoga classes and learning more massage techniques. After India his love of bodywork took him to Thailand where he became a teacher of Thai Yoga massage. Furthering his quest of knowledge, his studies took him to New York in 2013 where he attended the Jivamukti Yoga school of New York.

Henry has taught classes and workshops all around Venezuela, Latin America, Spain and the United States. In 2010 he opened his own Yoga Studio, Yoga Spa Shanti currently still open in Venezuela. Henry teaches Vinyasa Yoga, Thai yoga massage, and blends a unique Vinyasa class with specific focus on inversions, heart opening, hip, flexibility, arm balance, chakras and Yoga philosophy.

Austin Shutler

Austin initially gravitated towards Yoga due to his love for functional movement medicine, injury prevention, and dynamic body strength training through mobility and flexibility. Also A licensed physical therapist practicing since 2021, he has a passion for holistic health/wellness, science, longevity, movement, and rehabilitation. Diving deeper into the world of yoga, he soon realized that there is much more to it than simply the asana practice, and found a deep connection to Yogic philosophy, intuitive guidance, mindfulness, meditation, and being in service to the world to help play a role in unifying the mind, body, and spirit. He aspires to help bring awareness to the breath, body, and presence in the now, while sharing with others the powerful organic healing abilities of these magical vessels we live in. Through breath, kinesiology, and balance, Austin hopes to enhance your individual connection to yourself and to others, and strives to leave you with a feeling of Zen.

Alana Naber

Aloha friends, my name is Alana! Yoga to me means creating harmony within oneself; as well as within the world around us. Yoga has kept me committed to myself, on my journey, and committed to constantly bettering myself and the world around us. Whether I am in a fully booked class, teaching or practicing alone– I always feel supported on my mat and in my body.

I teach Yoga to inspire and support others. Nothing tickles me pink me more than cheering others along on their journey and creating a sense of community when and wherever possible. Teaching has blessed me with the ability to create a safe space where others are able to practice gratitude, love themselves as they are in that moment, and be the best energy that they can be! Hope to see you on the mat soon.

Summer Chevalier

My name is Summer Chevalier and I have been teaching Yoga Asana for 5 years.
In 2014, I graduated high school and transitioned from a very active
lifestyle, to having no physical outlets I felt connected to in my
first year at college at PLNU.
I had moved from my hometown of Santa Clarita, and I felt lost and
disconnected from my body. I struggled staying present and engaging
with my new community in OB.

Being introduced to movement based meditation in the form of Yoga
Asana impacted my body and mind in such a positive way, I decided to
dedicate my life to my practice. I left my nursing studies to
eventually explore yoga teacher training in 2019.
Since then I have enjoyed sharing one-on-one offerings with loved
ones, however I've discovered that I feel most grounded in a studio
setting, surrounded by community.

Honoring the traditional roots of our practice is very important to me
as a teacher. Honoring the Hatha, or effort, in stillness; is a common
theme in my class. As is our Pranayama, our breath, our life force; I
believe each breath is cause for celebration. You can count on me to
always leave room for organic movement and modification.

Studying the Yoga Sutras as translated by Patanjali truly grounded me
to the spiritual realm of my practice. I firmly believe that a
practice is meant to be imperfect, and that the most important Asana
is Savasana!

I like to move slowly and fluidly, building heat in the body while
maintaining organic rhythm. The integration of music into my flow is
very important to me, as I truly believe music helps keep us grounded,
and keeps our hearts and minds open and playful.

I am grateful to be a new member of the Bird Rock and OB Riffs community <3

You can also find me over at @Grl Swirl, leading the San Diego
chapter, hosting group skates holding space for women and other
marginalized skaters.
Om Shanti Shanti Shanti!

This is an intermediate class and yoga experience is recommended.

Vinyasa is an active breath to movement practice that includes postures to create heat, build strength and flexibility. Advanced postures may be offered, though the class remains accessible to most who have some experience with yoga. This class incorporates binds, arm balances,  backbends, and chaturangas.
